Welcome! Probably the easiest way to get started is to browse the Aozora Bunko, find something you like and translate it. The Aozora Bunko is an online archive of Japanese literary works which have fallen into the public domain, making them free to translate by anyone. Click here to take a look around the Aozora BunkoOnce you have translated something, post it in the Story Translations section, along with any issues you may have run into while translating, or anything else you feel is relevant. Once the translation is polished to perfection, it may be posted in the site if you desire, but as it will be your translation, you will be free to do anything you like with it. Good luck! The Aozora Bunko holds a vast body of work, everything from poems to anthologies. You're bound to find something that grabs your interest if you browse it for long enough.

I have picked and translated a story from the Aozora Bunko. Is it OK to post the translation in a new thread on the Story Translations thread? Just checking what normal procedure should be. Thanks.

Yes, of course. That is the normal procedure. I can't wait to read your translation. (edited the original post for clarity)
