The 14th International Conference on the Short Story (2016)

My name is Maurice A. Lee, and I am the director of an international short story conference. The 14th International Conference on the Short Story in English will be held in Shanghai from July 14-16, 2016, hosted by East China Normal University. More than 80 writers from 40 countries are expected to participate. Additionally, more than 250 scholars will come and participate. I am writing to invite interested members of your group to come and participate in this global conference. Writers come and read a story among their peers, participate in panels of mutual interest about the genre, and in general network with friends of short fiction. Writers already scheduled to read include Amy Tan, Gish Jen, Robert Olen Butler, Clark Blaise, Bharati Mukherjee, and Li Yuyun, among others. I would like you to be among our readers and participants as well. We will complete an anthology of stories of writers in attendance, and it will be published by the renowned ECNU Press. The website will go live in two weeks, and I would like to hear from you prior to that as to your interests. Writers interested will be asked to send an one-half page bio, plus a recent photo. This promises to be a great conference, and the first one with a venue in Asia. Do come and join us; I look forward to hearing from you.
