So I googled 'shortstoriesjapan.com' to see what would came up. I was curious as to where the page would be shown on google with different keywords. What I found on page 2 blew my mind. Basically, one of the authors I had emailed (a while ago) asking for permission to translate and release one of their stories took to Chie-Bukuro (Japan's version of Yahoo Answers) unsure if the site was trustworthy enough. To my surprise, people actually advised the author against letting me translate and release the story.

An interesting look into the thought process of authors when asked permission to translate their works. I'm sure not all authors think like this, but it took me off-guard reading that this particular author's initial response was a mixture of suspicion and self-doubt.
